Welcome Eric: Now Eric was extremely exciting in this episode. He had a ton of hilarious lines in this episode but also a lot of heart. I really like how they incorporate children into his campaign. The children were connected to the world in powerful ways. They have social media and an instant connection to the world. They're also the future and Eric saw that, and believed in them.
T.J.........Nope....too soon!
Lucaya: Well, well that ending provided strong hints of Lucaya becoming a thing. Of course it was set up by Eric earlier but that is beside the point. Maya called out Lucas and tried to cover her tracks by saying "I like us all very much". C'mon Maya, we know you're secretly loving on him.
Harley: He has a strong connection to these kids. This is very admirable, since janitor Bud wasn't much of a presence in Boy Meets World. It is really nice to see a voter being able to speak up for the children.
TJ: OK now this was a shocker, and is still a hard part to sit through. Thomas Jonathan Murphy was a beautiful touch to Eric's campaign. The flashbacks from the boy meets world episode with Tommy is just a bit too much. It brings a fresh emotional reminder and a beautiful sense of closure for those looking for more resolution in that story line. It definitely was a game changer.
"But those guys weren't real": I was really impressed with how well Girl Meets World brought up the Richard Nixon vs John F. Kennedy election. They a lot of humor to it and also made it easily understandable for children. Great Job, Disney Channel!
The Media: The media was introduced in the end of this episode, after Tommy's big reveal all of the students pulled out their phones and recorded what happened next. Farkle being a genius used a little more than enough. It was a perfect demonstration of how the media can be used in a positive light.
Favorite Lines:
"Eric: I'm supposed to
Corey: That's BABIES, you maroon. You're supposed to kiss BABIES"
"Eric: How many do we have robot?
Farkle: one
Eric: How many do we need robot?
Farkle: three million
Eric: Now burn me with your laser eyes"
"Maya: Eric it's Moesha, we need you"
"Lucas: So, what are you going to do if you win?
Eric: I'm going to adopt, Tommy"
"Eric: No, I don't have kids, but I do have a niche, and her brother WHO'S MY COUSIN AUGGIE"
"Eric: I'm gonna miss you scarecrow, lion, Dorthy....robot....I think I'll miss you most of all"
Final Thoughts: This episode was extremely well written. I have watched it a million times, and it hasn't gotten old. I would rank this episode as my second favorite after "Girl Meets Rileytown" bumping "Girl Meets Flaws" to my third favorite episode.
Tune in Friday, January 22, for a brand new episode called "Girl Meets Money"
